The skin. An amazing organ…the largest of all the systems that make us…incredibly complex, protecting us from a world of dangers – from toxic chemicals to other living things that want in to thrive at our expense! But more than this, the skin is the one organ system that we share with the rest of the world. When it’s sick or diseased, their is nothing worse. Beyond the symptoms of itching, burning, pain and the limitations in living which come with them, there is also the fact that, everyone else can see your skin. And then of course, their is ‘beauty.’ It’s ‘only skin deep,’ right? Soooo very important to how one feels – the psychology of good skin and beauty is of such paramount importance in how we live day to day. My name is David Amato, and I am a dermatologist. I have been fascinated by this organ since medical school, and have spent the past twenty years treating skin diseases and improving appearances. You can find out a little bit about me at a web site; allaboutfaces.biz. And why now do I choose to blog? To help…the importance of healthy skin and the appearance of the skin is so important, that it’s now a growth industry because their is money to be made in its promotion, especially the appearance part. A little balance, a place to talk about skin…I believe I have something to offer in this realm. Whether it’s the heartbreak of psoriasis, a horrific disorder with far reaching affects, the disfigurement that comes with severe acne or aging and its accompanying sense of loss of beauty, I’ve been there. To help – to try.
